Our Construction Services Team and BIM Manager have developed an interactive and innovative process for preparing Constructability Reviews and facilitating Safety in Design workshops, through the use of Navisworks and Virtual Reality (VR)
During the design phase for the O'Keefe Street Veloway Bridge project, our BIM Management team worked alongside the design consultant and contract administrator - to undertake a detailed constructability review using the 3D model Virtual Reality (VR) headsets and a BIM software installed on tablets. Though the application of this innovative approach, a number of key risks relating to construction sequencing, temporary traffic / pedestrian / cyclist management and construction plant space-proofing were identified and resolved more efficiently than using a more traditional methodology whereby 2D drawings are reviewed.
