The Coomera Connector Central project scope involves multiple grade-separated interchanges, new bridge structures, and dedicated active transport infrastructure such as walking and cycling paths, with completion targeted for 2027.
BIM one contributed to the project from the tender phase, working closely with key discipline leads within the Design Joint Venture to develop innovative geometric solutions that minimised - and in several instances, eliminated impacts to critical APA Gas and Telstra infrastructure. These early optimisations reduced delivery risk, avoided costly service relocations, and strengthened the overall value proposition of the submission.

During delivery, Michael fulfilled the role of Construction Team Utilities Lead, providing strategic leadership and oversight across all utilities-related components of the project. He worked closely with the multidisciplinary construction team and managed the utilities design consultant to ensure alignment between design intent and on-site execution. His role included refining utilities design solutions to enhance constructability and efficiency, proactively managing risk, contributing to construction sequencing and programme development, and supporting procurement and cost planning activities. Through this integrated leadership approach, utilities works were effectively coordinated, commercially managed, and seamlessly embedded within the broader project delivery strategy.
