Old Gympie Road and Boundary Road Intersection Upgrade

January
2025

<p id="">The Old Gympie Road and Boundary Road Intersection Upgrade improved traffic efficiency and safety through upgraded traffic signals, lane reconfiguration, and enhanced pedestrian facilities - boosting capacity and supporting long-term network performance.

The BIM one team worked closely with multidisciplinary design teams to manage utilities within a highly constrained corridor. Through proactive design optimisation, the team minimised impacts to critical assets, including a DN750 water main, multiple Telstra fibre conduits, and a DN200 steel gas main - reducing risk, limiting relocations, and delivering cost-effective project outcomes.

As PUP Lead, Michael provided utilities coordination and design leadership for the Old Gympie Road (Anzac Avenue to Boundary Road) Upgrade across the Initial Project Review, Preliminary Design, and Detailed Design phases.Michael led interdisciplinary coordination to ensure seamless integration with the broader civil works, while also overseeing BIM and 12d model development to support accurate spatial planning and constructability.

In addition, he provided critical technical input into cost planning, risk assessments, safety in design considerations, and the preparation of design documentation - ensuring a well-coordinated, compliant, and delivery-focused outcome.
